"conflictual relations, necessary relationships." Social Forum Workshop
Madrid World Within the World Social Forum in Madrid in 2010, a few organizations (CEPS, Diagonal, EnConstrucción, Anti-Capitalist Left, The Advocate and South Wind) have prepared a workshop on the complex relationships between social movements and political parties .
The goal is to raise and discuss this old problem, but somehow a little different than usual. So we've introduced two new features: pay attention to the most interesting experiences in Latin America and Europe, and to organize the workshop of a more dynamic way to encourage debate.
The workshop consists of three parts. The first part (10-11:15 pm) is a multiple interview and open to social movement activists and political leaders. Will feature Yayo Herrero (Ecological Action), Sara Lee (Nodo50), Hugo Martinez Abarca (IU) and Jaime Pastor (IA), as respondents, and Carolina Bescansa (CEPS / The Advocate), Ariel Jerez (The promoter), Concha Mateos (CEPS and journalist) and Miguel Romero (South Wind) as interviewers. In addition, an empty chair to enable the members of the public can also launch your questions.
The second part (11:30-13 pm) is a debate with the format of the show 59 seconds (in our case, a few more: 99), in order to provide a greater rate to the discussion and allow maximum participation. The discussion will revolve around several themes: the dilemmas of participation and the relationship with the institutions, organizational problems (democracy, professionalism, leadership, etc.) Parties and movements that often make errors when interacting with each other both and ways to overcome them, the different cultures and political subjectivities distinction flowering types of organizations, etc. Specialists involved in the debate on the experiences of both sides of the Atlantic and protagonists of the political and social struggles of Madrid: Iñigo Errejón (CEPS), Carlos Sevilla (South Wind, IA), Begoña Sanjosé (Feminist Policy Forum), Nacho Murgui (FRAVM), Armando Fdez Steinke (ATTAC, IU), Guillermo Zapata (Patio Maravillas), Luis Alegre (IA), Emilio Silva (ARMH) and Pablo Iglesias (CEPS / The Advocate) as moderator. There will be an empty chair for anyone involved at any time.
Part III (13-14 hours) is dedicated to sharing the collective elaboration of a map of the question of the topics discussed at the workshop. This will open a debate among the public in order to indicate agreement and disagreement, identify the main problems and explore possible answers.
On Saturday, we hope. AULA
