it all get started

One Step Beyond 99 seconds is an attempt by the The Developer Network professors of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology at the UCM, renewing acts academics to bring them the latest developments of culture audiovisual policy, aiming for a style of debate young, agile and carefree, inspired by successful television formulas.

A year ago the first time we tried this format in the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology, in collaboration with students at the AU counter, in a debate on the European elections. The approach then led to a priori skepticism but the result was a success. We received praise from many teachers and, above all, many students of the Faculty.

few months ago came back to take the format of the Madrid edition of the Social Forum World debate on the relationship between political parties and social movements. 99 seconds was the debate more often and with greater public participation in the Social Forum.

know that this formula has its limits, starting with the reduced time of interventions does not always allow further development of the arguments, but we believe it is good as it escapes from the monotony of certain styles of academic events which undoubtedly have lost interest for most of the students and the academic community in general.

We are confident that the format will help ensure that our faculty continues to be known for his critical and participatory.
A casual format to discuss the transition and the crimes of the Franco?

The issue that we'll see in this act is the political transition from Franco to the present constitutional system and its implications in the historical memory of our country. We understand that in recent years there has been a very positive discussion on the period of the Franco dictatorship and the crimes and human rights violations committed during those years that were never tried.

We are aware that a casual format as presented here might appear inappropriate to many people to confront a subject as serious as this. However, we have the impression that talking about politics is still considered to some extent, of poor education in this country. We therefore believe that a certain ironic detachment in form, may be the best way to deal with resolve and courage, respecting all points of view, a topic that in recent times is to focus the political debate in Spain.

Can U Pop An External Hemorrhoid

THE OTHER SIDE OF SANTO DOMINGO IN

By Gilda Matos

I went to the Palace of Fine Arts in Santo Domingo after joy, flat colors, inflated figures, themes nice and I met the big surprise: sadness, agony, pain, death, hate, compassion, and fear was shocked clothed my being to witness the testimony of the pain of Colombia. So ... for the first time I met La Otra Cara de Botero.

The author heads the representation of the most sought after artists of Latin America and the world. Always identified, so far, with the function of art to exalt life, produce pleasure in the audience and the recreation of outstanding performances in the history of art. He admits ideal of perfection admirer of Greek and Egyptian art, and faithful devotee of Renaissance and modern art, but his great human sensibility and love for Colombia, his native country, you have to show another face in the year 2000; maker of art with social content to denounce before the world " no reason for violence. " Her pain expands and goes beyond the 1, 141,748 square kilometer territory of their country and reached Santo Domingo in the expression contained in 67 sculptures, 25 paintings, 36 watercolors, drawings and 6 show another dimension of artistic face.

of his career and knew "his fat" and I always had the certainty that the artist continues in our time the aesthetic view of the first belonging to the Upper Paleolithic Venus of prehistory, as well as at the time, expresses the beauty of women in the voluptuous body shapes like a song to female fertility, sensuality and reproductive capacity, and this peculiar expression of his art seduce my imagination and the audience.

that we were used to Botero, so I never thought that the painter and sculptor would show another face in this exhibition, to trigger in me a catharsis to exorcise the anger towards violence, death, greed and all the consequences of the illicit drug anywhere in the world.

Your other profile is found in the elements of his pictorial language:

THE GESTURE

is a privileged element in pictorial paradigm, which Botero manages to gather an iconography of pain in a physiognomy that portrays horror, sadness, melancholy, fear and corporal forms icons such as have been codified in the history of painting.

plastic inherits his gestures of Piero Della Francesca, Mantegna and Dürer, and, like Giotto, use the gesture to show his emotions, the artist highlights the face because this is where the inside manifests itself, or in some cases, it is hidden.

De Piero inherited forms immobile and heavy presence of the sphere and cylinder.

Botero, this exhibition attempts to capture the furtive gestures and light, as usual, but the most outstanding and emphatic underlining the dramatic sense according to situations tragic stories.

His face also reveals the characters of his paintings and drawings:

WOMEN:

The woman is seen by the painter and the great victim of the breakdown of society, the pain plagues all areas of her life and their families.

DEATH:

The symbolism of death focuses the theme of the exhibition, the character pursues the performers of the images, frightening dream, fatal outcome of the scenes of violence. Evokes images of "Picasso's Guernica" at the scene of the painting "Matos Sierra" the war in Colombia, complex destructive, inhuman soul touches to the fibers of social breakdown.

In short, the other side of Botero revealed in the new aesthetic function of his art: the social criticism, the use of art to show violence and to demand the respect for life. This exhibition

Botero surprised me .... I saw your true face!, I went to pain Colombia, Dominican ... with deep sorrow.

was professor Otamendi and director of Euskaltegi (Euskera teaching academy) in Toulouse, worked for the ETB as program director Egone Giro and was the director of the Basque newspaper Egunkaria Euskaldunon , the only fully in Euskara in time, which was closed in 2003 by order of the Audiencia Nacional , accused of receiving orders directly from ETA and part of the terrorist network. After leaving the incommunicado detention, both Otamendi as the other four executives of the newspaper complained to the judge they were tortured by the Guardia Civil during the period of confinement. Otamendi, upon leaving the prison complained to the media cameras gathered there the treatment suffered by him and his companions. The remarks were broadcast live by the news of the Basque public television (ETB):

The deal has been absolutely cruel and inhumane. There is no right to the treatment of Juan Mari Torrealdai, 60, an eminence of Basque culture. He told me he has received tremendous beatings, Xabier Alegria have hands-on "bag", I have done it twice (...) It is incredible that in 2003 there are like black holes like this and similar institutions impunity to carry out such practices. I do not care you claim any right, do not care your situation, I do not care if you do not know anything. Is the same. You say something to get out alive .

The closure of the newspaper Egunkaria solidarity resulted in a mobilization that included sections of Basque culture and sport, the youth movement and the neighborhood association network, the PNV, IU, and even the Socialists, then in opposition. The majority of Basque society he lived as an attack on freedom of expression and culture in Euskara. In the rest of the English State, meanwhile, there was a consensus media, sponsored by the Aznar government then, about the claim that Egunkaria was controlled by ETA.

Now, seven years later, National Court acquitted of all charges at the five executives arrested and has decreed that there is no connection between the newspaper and ETA. In the decision indicates that "the closure of the newspaper had no direct constitutional authorization and lacked a special statute expressly authorizing it" or "has not been established directly or indirectly that the newspaper has defended the principles of the terrorist group has published a single article in favor of terrorism or terrorists, or that its editorial line with even a particular political bias. " Following the ruling, the majority of Basque political parties demanded an apology from the state and reparations for damages caused during the 7 years that lasted the entire process.
